Pete's Log: Riot Fest 2017 Day 1

Entry #1809, (Music)
(posted when I was 39 years old.)

Yesterday, Jamie, Bert, Kim and I headed to Riot Fest to rock out.

The first band we saw was X, which even though I enjoy them, I don't think I ever thought I'd see them live. They were celebrating 40 years of being a band and it was a great show.

Next we heard a bit of the Buzzcocks, then wandered around to look at merch and get some food. We then returned to the Root/Riot stages area (probably the main stages of the five) and caught some Death From Above while waiting for the main event of the evening: Ministry - New Order - Nine Inch Nails.

Jamie and Kim wandered off after a few Ministry songs, but I enjoyed getting to hear Bad Blood live, since the Matrix soundtrack was a big part of 1999 and the early 2000s for me. Jamie and Kim returned as Ministry was finishing up.

New Order was fun. Their songs sound a lot different live than recorded.

Nine Inch Nails was amazing. I wasn't as excited about them as I was about New Order, but man do they know how to put on a show.

The show ended at 10 and we caught the 10:46 Metra from Western Ave. Metra doesn't usually stop there except a few random trains, but they were kind enough to add it as an extra stop to a bunch of trains during Riot Fest. We were home about 11:15, which I thought was pretty good given that we were still listening to NIN's Hurt up until 10.

Heading off to day 2 shortly!
