Pete's Log: Riot Fest 2017 Day 3

Entry #1811, (Music)
(posted when I was 39 years old.)

Sunday morning Jamie and I drove Kim to the airport, then headed back to the final day of riot fest.

We walked up in time to hear the last couple songs of Hot Water Music, then listened to Dessa for a few songs. Bert found us and we moved on. Sunday we definitely saw the most bands I think, moving around more and often catching just a few songs. We caught some of That Dog and The Orwells, then heard our first full set: The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

They played the Let's Face It album in its entirety, making sure to point out several times that it's now been twenty years since its release. They finished out their set with a few more songs off other albums. It was great.

We then went to see The Menzingers, who didn't seem quite as on top of things as the last time we saw them. We then caught some Minus The Bear, Mad Caddies, and Dinosaur Jr. before going to see GWAR.

A whole lot of people came to see GWAR, but it quickly started thinning out after a few songs. I think most people just wanted to see it to see what it was about. Which to be honest is why I was there too. It was pretty entertaining. And I'm glad we were outside the splash zone.

We then caught a little bit of M.I.A., then Prophets of Rage and finally Jawbreaker. I knew a few Jawbreaker songs. Overall it was a great three days.

And last night Jamie and I watched Empire Records, because seeing GWAR made me want to see their scene in Empire Records. :)
