Pete's Log: Ability to clientele processing

Entry #1573, (Random Crap)
(posted when I was 29 years old.)

The German word Mandantenfähigkeit means something like the ability to handle multiple clients (in an IT sense).

Babelfish translates it as "Ability to clientele processing," which sounds rather nonsensical to me. Mandantenfähig, the adjectival (and shorter) version of the word, has no translation at all in babelfish.

If you search Google for this phrase, you'll find 172 or so results, many of which contain nonsensical machine-translated English, such as "When information technology designated, which can serve on the same server or the same software system several mandators thus of customers or clients, without this mutual view of its data, user administration and the like to have."

Having an Internet presence in English is certainly a good way to expand the audience you can reach. But if your English text was machine translated, I dare say you'd have been better off without it.

And where did babelfish come up with "ability to clientele processing?"
