Pete's Log: Lufthansa fan boy

Entry #1624, (Life in General)
(posted when I was 30 years old.)

I spent the last couple days in Wolfsburg, in Niedersachsen (or Lower Saxony, if you prefer the English names for German states). I flew there Sunday evening and made use of Lufthansa's fancy new mobile boading pass. Their online checkin now gives you this option. Basically you get a URL (sent by email or SMS) to a webpage with a bar code and you then scan that bar code at the airport:

It worked remarkably well. Both scanners (the one at luggage drop-off and the one at the gate) scanned the code off my phone's display on the first try. My only disappointment was that my flight failed to be entirely paperless: there was still my baggage tag receipt thingy.

The thing that still saddens me about online checkin is that I'm no longer sure what to do about this collection. I'm sure I can improvise.

Due to snow in Munich yesterday, our 19:05 flight back from Hannover was cancelled. Luckily, we got there just early enough for the kind Lufthansa lady to book us on the 17:15 flight. They're not helping reduce the ridiculous adoration I feel for Lufthansa as an airline.
