Pete's Log: Brew Day!

Entry #1823, (Fermentation)
(posted when I was 41 years old.)

Brew Kettle and sign saying "Welcome to Grossdale Brewing!"

Today, I brewed for the first time since 2013. I tried a pale ale I'm thinking of naming JBPA. It was not the most organized brew day ever. But it was fun.

Jamie and JB were of course there to help and Mary and Bert also stopped by. We also did some grilling and hanging out.

It was not the most organized brew ever. I didn't do a thorough equipment check before today, so I didn't notice I was missing a vessel to do my hydrometer readings in (the kit did come with a hydrometer) or that they gave me the wrong lid for the ale pail. So I ended up without a good OG reading and using the carboy for primary fermentation instead of the ale pail.

The wort is also darker than expected for a pale ale. So we'll just have to see how it turns out...
