Pete's Log: Grüße aus LU

Entry #1654, Tue, August 25, 2009, 22:03 CEST (Travel)
(posted when I was 31 years old.)

I don't know what's sillier: that somebody made a documentary about shovels, or that I'm watching it.

I'm in Ludwigshafen am Rhein this week. In this part of the country ("Die Pfalz"), they call a sandwich with a meatball thingy in it a "Frikadellenbrötchen". In Bavaria, they call the same thing a "Fleischpflanzerlsemmel". Frikadellenbrötchen is what I know from my childhood. But if I called it that in Bavaria, I'm certain to get strange looks. Or worse.

Sometimes I think news producers keep the camera on presenters several seconds after they finished talking just to mess with them. Keep smiling. Keep smiling. Don't blink!
