Pete's Log: Mae West

Entry #1715, (Life in General)
(posted when I was 32 years old.)

Last night I went to Hüttnwirt at about 8 pm. Antje asked me if I was coming to the Mae West monument thing with them. I said "huh?"

So a big sculpture is being put up by Effnerplatz. Here's some details. Anyway, the thing is going to be 52 meters tall. And last night at about 2 am, they were supposed to put the one big part on top of the base. Antje was so enthusiastic about going to watch, I couldn't say no. Also, she promised Glühwein.

Anyway, we left HW at about 1 and were there by 1:30. It was -13 C out. We stood around and drank Glühwein until 3:30. There were probably about a hundred people there to watch. By 3:30 we were too cold and nothing had happened yet, so we went into an Italian restaurant nearby. We waited there until 5:30, but still nothing happened. So we gave up.

Great story, I know.
