Pete's Log: esgerbeast2

Entry #1768, (Coding, Hacking, & CS stuff)
(posted when I was 36 years old.)

A few weeks ago, I built the successor to esgerbeast. It's still a work in progress, but so far I am pretty happy with esgerbeast2.

I bought the basics at microcenter on impulse, because I suddenly wanted my computer right away. The case is an absurdly quiet Swedish model of some kind by a company called Fractal Design. It also has some of the best cable management features I've ever experienced in a case. Super happy with it.

Also:

  • Asus Z97 Pro motherboard
  • Intel i7 4790k
  • 16 GB DDR3 Ram
  • Samsung 500 GB 850 EVO SSD drive

What's still missing is a proper graphics card and more hard drives. I'm currently thinking I'd like to get 4 hard drives and put them in a RAID 5 configuration.

Right now, without a graphics card, it suffices for Starcraft 2 in medium graphics mode. Obviously that will not suffice for the long term...

But otherwise I'm happy with it.
