Pete's Log: Oh Sump Pump

Entry #2228, (Homeownership)
(posted when I was 44 years old.)

I think our sump pump has run more in the last two months than in the previous five years combined. The ground is just really saturated. Our neighbor to the South still has standing water in her yard from the rain we got three days ago. So does the playground across the alley. Luckily the pump seems to be up to the task. It runs for about 5-10 seconds every couple minutes.

Tomorrow we're supposed to get rain in the morning and snow in the afternoon. Current forecast says 2.3 inches of "wintry mix".

In anticipation of that, Jamie and I jury-rigged an extension hose to get the water out to the front of the house where it can flow down towards the storm drain in the street. Of course the sidewalk slopes towards the house, so the water isn't making it all the way to the street yet. But hopefully it helps.
