Pete's Log: July 4th Genealogy

Entry #2344, (Genealogy)
(posted when I was 44 years old.)

I was motivated by an independence day genealogy post to get my family tree back online. If nothing else, to be able to look things up. My implementation of various security headers had broken things, but now I have the family tree on a separate domain.

So with that said, I've traced several ancestors to Revolutionary War service, but the story I am most entertained by is Abner Chase's. He is my great ×6 grandfather and was born in 1729 in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. As one of my sources tells it:

"When the alarm of the country was sounded by the demonstration upon Lexington and Concord, the town's militia started out for the scene of operations, the western company under Captain Jonathan Crowell mustering sixty officers and men. They had not proceeded far before intelligence of the rout and retreat of the British troops reached them and they returned home."
