Pete's Log: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Jamie thoroughly enjoyed Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros and audibly gasped at the ending. So she pre-ordered the sequel and its arrival felt like a big deal in the shops around us. So I figured I should check out Fourth Wing myself.
I enjoyed it. It was a fast read and entertaining. The premise is a young lady who is prone to injury (due to a condition similar to Ehlers–Danlos syndrome, which the author has) was supposed to study to become a scribe, but at the last moment is forced to study to become a dragon rider instead. This is obviously far more dangerous, especially for her condition, but something like three quarters of the students die before graduation.
The story reads a bit like young adult fiction, but with a lot of violence and sex. The dragons are fun. I’m planning to read the next one, which Jamie conveniently already owns.
