Entry #1557, (Life in General)
(posted when I was 29 years old.)

Last week I was in Nürnberg for a day. On the U-Bahn there, the next stop, including connections, was announced in German and English. A young boy then asked his mother why they did the announcement in German and English. The mother responded that it wasn't German and English, but German and International, because any visiting foreigner would be able to understand English. I love having English as my native language.

I've been playing Starcraft with Branden, Randy and others on weekends lately. It's a good (and free) way to waste some time. I still suck, but am definitely improving. We also communicate via Skype while playing. High bandwidth definitely makes the distance to the US seem a bit smaller. Last night, however, I was made fun of for having to work today, since they have the day off (MLK day). So I'm thinking I may need to put in vacation days on all American holidays, just out of principle.

It was 11 degress in Munich yesterday (52 F). So we organized an Ultimate Frisbee event in the English Garden. 16 people showed up to play, which made for a great game. I've definitely gotten out of shape a bit over the past few months, but I feel great today. I guess I need occasional reminders that exercise makes me feel better.

It looks like I've got at least four votes guaranteed in my bid for the presidency (assuming I vote for myself). I need to figure out how to get on the ballot now.
