Pete's Log: I love this city

Entry #1458, (Life in General)
(posted when I was 28 years old.)

When Brian and Branden were visiting, one of them made the observation that the goings-on at the Chinese Tower beer garden would qualify as a major folk festival most anywhere else, whereas in Munich it was just a normal weekend at a beer garden.

So you know that when Munich does a real folk festival, it's gonna be good. The most famous, of course, is Oktoberfest, which is the biggest in the world. But they've got plenty of other parties that happen here. Right now the Frühlingsfest is going on, which is a mini-Oktoberfest in the spring. It even takes place on the Theresienwiese, where the Oktoberfest is celebrated.

Somewhat spontaneously, Sara and I went there last night. We didn't do much more than drink a few beers, eat dinner, and listen to the live music, but it was a ton of fun. The band played a mix of pop hits and Wiesn hits, and there's really nothing better than sitting in a tent full of people, drinking beer and singing along to Wiesn hits. You don't even need to know the words, nobody will know the difference.

I might never leave. Today I just need to cope with having the music from last night stuck in my head.
