Pete's Log: meteor showers and more

Entry #1457, (Life in General)
(posted when I was 28 years old.)

My six month membership to Toytown expires at the end of this month. That's the sort of thing that rubs in that I've been here a while now. Since I'm now at a stage of greater financial liquidity, I think I'll renew for two years (at a cost of 40 euro). When that expires, I'll really know I've been here a while.

Speaking of euro (lame segue alert!), I'm quite content with the recent strength of the unified currency. Since I get paid in euro, but still have student loans and other obligations in dollars, the recent rise works out well for me.

Sara spent Saturday night at my place, but in a platonic manner. We set an alarm for 2 am, and, after it woke us, took a few blankets and camping chairs to a field near my place. We found Vega and settled in to watch us some Lyrids. Over the course of an hour, we saw five or six meteors, which is the most Sara has ever seen in one go. It was certainly a more successful outing than my past few attempts to watch a meteor shower (e.g. this attempt with George).

I'm feeling mostly better, but still have a bit of a cough going on.
