Pete's Log: Pete's Log version pi beta 1

The codebase that this log thing is based on is in parts nearly ten years old. In the past ten years, I've made many additions to the code. And the code is beginning to show its age.
Towards the end of June, I set up a test environment with a full copy of the database. In the history of Pete's Log, this has never been done before.
Since then, I've been refactoring.
So far, the database schema is unchanged, but the code has been pruned significantly. And the layout's been changed as well.
A number of features are missing, but the minimum necessary set is there, so I decided to do a "go live" and call this version pi beta 1.
If you're bored, have a look and let me know what you think. Of course, adding comments is one of the features missing in pi beta 1, so you'll have to let me know via some other medium.
Or wait for pi beta 2, when I intend to have comments enabled again.
Strict XHTML 1 and CSS compatibility is targeted for pi beta 3.
