Pete's Log: Mobile Uploads

Entry #1860, (Meta)
(posted when I was 42 years old.)

Until now, I was using the following (admittedly inefficient) workflow for adding pictures that I took on my phone to log entries:

  1. Email the picture to myself
  2. Open alpine on esgeroth.org's host and save the image
  3. Move it to the proper directory
  4. Use mogrify to strip metadata and to adjust rotation if needed

Given that these days the majority of pics I add to log entries are pics I took on my phone, this was a bit of a burden. Plus it meant I could only really add entries with pics if I was at my computer.

I've finally added an image upload feature to the administrative pages of Pete's Log and I am quite excited about it. The new upload functionality also saves the image at three different resolutions for thumbnail/mobile friendliness purposes, but I still have to implement some markup changes to fully take advantage of that. Plus think through which resolution makes the most sense to send out on RSS...

But I'm happy with the progress. Here are a couple test images I used, taken today.
