Pete's Log: Forcing myself to write something

Entry #2023, (Home Automation, Life in General, Meta, Random Crap, Work)
(posted when I was 43 years old.)

Everything's been a bit blah lately and I keep thinking I should sit down and write something, but it doesn't feel like there's much to write about.

I installed FreshRSS on the pi cluster a couple nights ago. I was happy with how easy it was. My feed is currently anchored by Brian (who has only posted once in 2021) and Bert. Looking for more content, so suggestions are welcome. I'm looking for personal over corporate.

Having Home Assistant working again has allowed me to resume monitoring the Solar Library and it has quickly become clear that things aren't looking good for winter. Hoping to find some time to think this through a little more, but in the meanwhile I've ordered a bigger solar panel and a beefier battery. Curious to see what difference that will make.

I impulsively joined another webring and a Mastodon instance. We'll see how that goes.

I owe a few people emails in German, but the cognitive load of writing in German has become greater lately which keeps leading me to putting it off. Which isn't a good sign and the best way to cope with that would be to write more in German again. Falls jemand diesen Beitrag liest und auch eine E-Mail von mir erwartet - Sorry für die Verzögerung! Hoffentlich komm ich bald wieder dazu!

Been feeling like I should focus on esgeroth.org updates again. I have a few CSS tweaks I need to make and account creation and management is long overdue for being functional again.

I'm going into the office tomorrow for the first time since June. Things were looking different then. I feel a bit anxious about it now. What's interesting is we do have a vaccine mandate at work now and my understanding is the badges for anyone who hasn't submitted their vaccine info should be disabled. My info looks good in the system, so it shouldn't be a problem tomorrow, but time will tell.

As I was getting ready to post this, I realized that a time change is imminent and I still haven't implemented a feature to adjust the default time zone for daylight savings. Maybe I should take some vacation to work on these things.
