Pete's Log: GeoGuessr and me

Entry #2122, (Random Crap)
(posted when I was 43 years old.)

I was planning to write some diatribe about how I enjoy the classic mode in GeoGuessr - mostly explorer mode where I turn my brain off for a prolonged period of time to explore countries. Yesterday for example I managed gold for Israel and American Samoa.

But what I was concerned about was the "new" competitive mode that is now the default home screen for GeoGuessr. I was going to write about how the classic daily challenge feels like a haven for cheaters since the top finishers always seem to get perfect scores which seems like an impossible feat to me. So given that the daily challenge seems unfair, I didn't imagine that competitive mode would be something I'd enjoy.

Boy was I wrong.

Competitive mode in GeoGuessr is ridiculously fun. Especially the Distance Battle Royale. I can't get enough of it. It does not feel like there is any cheating going on and also it seems to match you against similar skill levels. So that was a decent chunk of my morning today.

I have no regrets.

If you're a GeoGuessr, you should play with me.
