Pete's Log: Sump pump lump jump

Entry #2210, (Homeownership)
(posted when I was 44 years old.)

After running a bunch at the start of the year, our sump pump was quiet for the second half of January and into February. But we had some rain on Thursday and the sump pump has been going regularly ever since.

Which is unusual. In the past it had to rain real hard for any water to make it to our sump pit. And Friday and Saturday and today have been sunny. So I don't understand how there's still enough water in the ground to find its way to our sump pit.

We did get new gutters a year ago, and the downspout locations have been adjusted a little, but I can't imagine that's the cause, especially since this increased sump pump activity only started a month or so ago.

At least the sump pump is doing its job and removing water from the crawlspace. I just wish I knew where the water is coming from.
