Pete's Log: South Haven 2: Souther Haven

Entry #2286, (Travel)
(posted when I was 44 years old.)

Jamie and I started our day with a delightful B&B breakfast.

We then made our way to Deerlick beach, which Jamie had read was a good spot to find sea glass. I’ve never looked for sea glass before but was determined to find some, which we did!

Beach rocks and sea glass

Jamie took that picture of our rock and glass haul. Sea glass, we learned, is just regular glass that’s been worn down by water.

Next we did some antiquing. Jamie found some books and I bought a 3D wooden owl puzzle and a HO-scale Santa Fe caboose. Then some lunch, a visit to a game store, and a visit to a brewery. Then the rain came, so we hung out in our room for a while and read.

After dinner we checked out the light house where the Black River meets Lake Michigan. It struck both of us as small, but it does have its own Wikipedia article.

And to round things out, here’s a view of the B&B we’re staying at from across the Black River.
