Pete's Log: Chicken Stuff
Entry #2332, (Chickens)(posted when I was 44 years old.)
The chickens are spending the night in (slightly) new environs. I moved the Coop to the middle of the yard so I could dig out their "foundation" which had been compromised by a rat tunnel.
I had built a frame and stapled hardware cloth to the bottom of it, but the hardware cloth separated from the frame and the rats found that gap. So tomorrow the plan is to add more subterranean hardware cloth and fill things back in and move the chickens back to their regular home.
While removing the wood chips from their home, I used my sifting contraption to separate dirt from wood chips and I now have a pile of dirt which feels pleasantly fertile. Now to figure out where to put it.
