Pete's Log: Screen Time
Entry #2783, (Life in General)(posted when I was 46 years old.)
I didn’t set any specific goals for my June digital detox experiment. I can say I think it was useful. I significantly reduced my YouTube consumption, basically eliminated Reddit (except when it came up as a search result) and ignored most of my RSS feed. Screen time on my phone was down by about a third compared to my long term average. I ended up doing a lot of sudoku on my phone but that’s ok. It doesn’t make my brain feel full.
Since Manu inspired this, here’s his June Wrap-Up. He has another experiment lined up for July but I’m going to just try to keep up my new habit of staying off Reddit. The almost-subconscious tendency to idly click to Reddit took a few weeks to rid myself of so hopefully that’ll be easier to keep up now.
Jamie has a write-up as well.
