Pete's Log: Bread and Rust

Entry #2140, (Fermentation, Homeownership)
(posted when I was 44 years old.)

I fed my sourdough starter this evening (thanks for the reminder, Jamie). As I was doing so, JB asked me if it was Sauerkraut. I reminded her it was sourdough starter and then remembered I wanted her to name it. So I asked her what we should call it and with no hesitation she said "Milkshake." So that's what we're going with.

Anyway, Milkshake seems to be doing well. The first picture is just after feeding. The second picture is two hours later. Guess I need to leave more headroom.

We're still spending a lot of time thinking and learning about insulation. While investigating the attic some more, we discovered a crack on the far side of the plumbing stack.

Crack in Sewer Stack

No sewer odor in the attic yet, but that's suddenly a higher priority than the insulation. Luckily the plumber we like was able to come by today for an estimate and will be able to fit a repair in next week. Yay homeownership!
