Pete's Log: Thoughtful Thursday Title

Entry #2030, (Home Automation, Life in General)
(posted when I was 43 years old.)

Following up on my Monday Musings, on Monday I

  • ... found that the lights were not on at Gordon
  • ... removed the library circuitry from the library and plugged it into the new battery. This one is 6600 mAh versus the 2500 mAh of the previous battery. 72 hours later it's still going strong. Next up: testing the new solar panel.

My home projects have felt like treading water lately and it's been hard to find the time and motivation to keep on top of them. Today I made one big step to regain parity with the status prior to Home Assistant deciding to be a jerk: my desk lights and music display now both detect my presence again. For the past few months I've been unplugging them when leaving my desk like some sort of caveman.

The brief jolt of excitement when I walk into the basement and my desk comes to life automatically is definitely a little victory, and a recurring one at that. I've missed it.

My brain feels fried so I think I'm going to leave it at that.

But before I go: 10 years ago today, I discovered I'm on Google Maps. And as of right now, I still am.
